Kristín Ómarsdóttir: In a Spider Web

Born in 1962 in Reykjavik. The most acclaimed Icelandic writer of her generation. She studied Icelandic, literary studies and Spanish at the University of Iceland. She writes prose, poetry, dramatic texts. She was twice nominated for the Nordic Council Prize for Literature, for her fifth novel Elskan mín ég dey (1997, Love, I'm Dying) and her eighth poetry collection, Kóngulær í sýningargluggum (2017, Spiders in the Shop Window). Her versatility is underlined by the nomination for the prestigious Scandinavian Prize Nordisk Dramatikerpris for the play Ástarsaga 3 (1997, Love Story 3). She also deals with visual and fine arts. She masters the plasticity of language and  the surreal tones in her writing, she has the ability to fascinate and repel at the same time — this author's art is manifested across genres, but especially in her enchanting poetry.
